WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? Fire at the Turner farm
Email Print

Brentwood Home Page staff reports
We had calls about a fire Friday at Green Pastures Farm, a k a the Turner Farm, so we went to the two best sources we know to find out what’s up with that: Brentwood Fire Chief Brian Goss and farm manager George Crosthwait.

Here’s the scoop:

The farm had obtained a burn permit from the city Thursday, and on Friday was burning farm debris in a pit located on the north end of the Franklin Road property. Just before noon, Brentwood Fire & Rescue was dispatched following a report of a tractor fire.  En route, the firefighters were notified that a tractor had fallen into a burn pit.

Crosthwait said the fire pit itself gets very muddy and the tractor "just got too close to the bottom of that pit." Luckily, as the firefighters arrived, they saw that farm employees had already used a tow strap attached to another tractor to rescue the stuck one.

The tractor suffered damage to two tires and exterior lights but luckily there were no other injuries to report, Crosswaithe said.

“We arrived on scene at 1135 hours and cleared at 1149 hours. The incident occurred at 610 Franklin Road, Brentwood,” the chief reports.

And that’s what’s up with that. Thanks for asking.
