Brentwood Home Page news reports

A potentially large severe weather outbreak is possible across Middle Tennessee tonight, the combination of a strong upper level disturbance and warm and moist Gulf air. Strong wind shear will bring the potential for a significant severe weather event from mid-evening through late tonight, according to the Williamson County Emergency Management Office.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed locations generally along and west of interstate 65 in a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms, with other locations to the east in a slight risk of severe thunderstorms through tonight.

Numerous severe storms could develop along and ahead of a cold front moving west to east across the area tonight. Severe thunderstorms that do develop will have the potential of producing damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes.

The bulk of this activity will occur after midnight, making the event potentially even more life threatening. This is the time to review your severe weather safety plans. Know where your safe shelter is located and how you are going to receive warnings if one is issued for your area. If you have not done this already, now would be a good time to purchase a weather radio to alert you while you sleep.

Trained storm spotters, emergency management, along with fire and law enforcement officials are urged to report any severe weather or damage to the National Weather Service office in Nashville.

Brentwood Home Page will report the latest information regarding this potential severe weather event as it becomes available.
