The Tennessee Department of Education’s director of educator evaluation is coming to work for Williamson County Schools. On Sept.29, Tim Gaddis will fill the position of Teaching Learning and Assessment Director.

“We waited to fill the position until we had the perfect candidate,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney, referring to the retirement of Lynn Heady 18 months ago. “We found that person in Tim. He has more than 30 years in the field of education and will be an asset to our district as we continue to move forward.”

Gaddis has worked for the state since 2007, serving also as the director of the Tennessee Academy for School Leaders, TSAL. Prior to that time he served as chief operating officer for Nashville-based Modern Red Schoolhouse; served at the Hudson Institute, an Indianapolis-based think tank in the area of school reform; and taught English for 17 years in Columbus, Ind.

Gaddis is a Williamson County resident and father of a Centennial High School graduate.

“I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work at the national and the state level, and I'm especially proud to be a part of Tennessee's Race to the Top initiatives,” Gaddis said. “But I have missed being a part of a local education community. I know that we have incredibly dedicated and skilled teachers and leaders, as well as a supportive community.  I can't wait to get started as a member of the Williamson County Schools team.”

Gaddis received his bachelor’s degree in English and speech in 1980 from Indiana State University. He received his master’s degree in secondary education in 1984 from Indiana University, Bloomington.
