The first score occurred with 6:14 on the clock in the second half. No. 7 Carson Croy would not only score the TD, he would then kick the extra point too.

Then with only 1:10 left till the half Brentwood capitalized on a fumble recovery in the end zone to score a second TD. No. 54 Blake Mitchell would be the player credited with the quick action to recover the loose ball. The score ended at the half at 14-0 as Croy kicked a successful extra point for the second time of the night.

The second half opened with Woodland making a strong start. With 4:32 left in the third quarter No. 20 Hagan Severance would bring the score within one touchdown. The extra point would be good when No. 16 Crews Holt kicked it in.

A close game with great talent on both sides of the field, Brentwood head coach Dennis Harrison commented “We have a very good team, strong players, a lot of talent, but so does Woodland.”

“It is always a special week at Woodland when we prepare for Brentwood. Both teams raise their level of focus and preparation for this game. Even football fans in the Brentwood community follow this cross-town rivalry closely,” shared Tommy Phillips, Woodland head coach.

The game is always a big rivalry and even the principals get into the fun rivalry of the evening.

The Woodland Middle School JV team will host the Brentwood Middle School team next Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Crockett Park.
