A Ravenwood High School student was arrested on campus this morning after administrators received a tip that a student might have a gun at school. The student had mentioned on his MySpace page that he had the gun.
An unloaded revolver was found in a backpack during an investigation by the administration and the School Resource Officer. No ammunition was found and there was never a threat to the safety of students or staff, according to information released by Williamson County School officials.
“There is no danger,” Brentwood Police Capt. Tommy Walsh told Brentwood Home Page. “The school is not on lockdown. We obviously don’t want anyone to panic.”
The student was taken into custody by Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies.
This is a zero tolerance offense (under Tennessee law) which brings an automatic suspension from school for one year. |
