Two-car crash near RHS sends one to hospital

Updated at 12:09 Tuesday
A two-vehicle crash early this morning in front of Ravenwood High School sent one of the drivers to Williamson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident, which occured at approximately 6:43 am, involved a 2005 Kia being driven by a Ravenwood High student who was attempting to make a left turn out of the school parking lot onto Wilson Pike. The driver failed to yield to a 2003 Mercedes which was headed north on Wilson Pike," Brentwood Asst. Police Chief Tommy Walsh told Brentwood Home Page.

The Mercedes struck the Kia on the driver’s side, causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver of the Kia was transported to Williamson Medical Center by ambulance where he was treated and later released. The other driver suffered minor injuries, but was not transported to a medical facility.

"Although the crash occurred in the school zone, it was prior to the activation of the school zone lights and speed is not considered to be a factor," Walsh said.
