Williamson County Parks and Recreation is offering two new eight-week courses on “Mindfulness and Meditation” and is allowing interested teens and adults the chance to check them out for free before committing.
Both take place at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road, near the intersection of Hillsboro and Mack Hatcher Boulevard.
The classes are designed to help participants discover how different non-religious forms of meditation can relieve anxiety, sleep problems and stress. Mindfulness practice fully engages the five senses and can help transform the way we experience the world around us.
The two free, two-hour preview classes are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2, from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. and Sunday, Feb. 5, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling 790-5719, ext. 10.
The eight-week classes will be held Feb. 12-April 15 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and Thursdays, Feb. 16-April 5 from 9:15-11:15 a.m. The cost is $80.
