Brentwood Home Page staff reports
A crash that closed Holly Tree Gap Road for an extended period of time late Sunday night and resulted in power outages in the southwest area of the city in under investigation.

Brentwood Police report that at approximately 9:40 pm Sunday night, a 17-year-old driver and 14-year-old passenger were travelling west on Holly Tree Gap near 1200 Holly Tree Gap Road when the driver lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. The 2008 Nissan Altima left the roadway and overturned before striking a telephone pole and fence.

At some point during the crash the passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was taken to Williamson Medical Center where he was treated and released. The passenger was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he remains this morning.

Police spokesman Capt. Tommy Walsh did not have information on the passenger’s condition Monday morning. Names are not being released because they are minors.

The road remained closed while Middle Tennessee Electric replaced the damaged pole.

“The investigation into this crash is incomplete, but we have not filed any charges at this time,” Walsh said.

Legend has it that Jesse James and his brother, Frank hid at the top of the Gap to prey upon stagecoaches and vulnerable travelers as they struggled over the Gap. As much work that has been done on that most beautiful of roads it is still a treacherous stretch of passage through the Brentwood Hills.
