Brentwood boys and girls track and field teams ran away with the 3-AAA South Sub-Sectional meet at BHS over the weekend, while Ravenwood also had some top finishes.

Bruins’ thrower Steve Wade took both the shot put and discus over Ravenwood’s Cameron Brown, and Nathan Thomas won both boys distance events. Lady Raptors runner Erika Peoples took both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.

Lady Bruins junior Holly Van Grinsven was fastest in 100 hurdles and second in the 100, 200 and 400.

BHS senior Kelly Bickel won the long jump and was third in the 100, 200 and 400. Amber Sudzius and Amy Nelson went 1-2 in discus, and Sudzius was second in the shot put.

Brentwood’s Abby Vorhaus also was runner-up in pole vault, and Brentwood’s Brittany Alexander came in second in the 1600.  Sarah Hampton-Flowers had the second-best time in the 300 hurdles.

The Lady Raptors were best in the 4x100, and the 4x400 relay was second RHS went 3-4-5 in 300 hurdles.

Thomas and Paul Stuart went 1-2 in both the 1600 and 3200 for Brentwood.

BHS sophomore Eric Hoff cleared 13 feet, 10-inches in the pole vault, nearly a foot better than Ravenwood’s second-place Zach Gilroy.

Bruins junior Jake Lazas had the second-best triple jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

The Raptors’ Samuel Hagens barely finished second in high jump, while teammates Zach Gilroy and Geoff Nelson were third and fifth.

The Sectional meet will take place at Rossview in Clarksville later this week. The top five finishers in each event qualify except for Brentwood's 4x200 girls team, whose time didn't stand up to the north sub-sectional times.
