Take the 'Challenge" by just saying 'no' | amy Freese, DesignHer Living, life coach, brentwood tn news, lifestyle, commentary, brentwood home page

Doesn’t everyone love a good challenge?  Well, since the kids are back in school facing numerous daily challenges and since our favorite football teams are tackling challenges on the gridiron, I think this is the perfect time to get in the spirit.

No story, scripture, piece of advice, or nugget of wisdom will do any good if it’s just left on the paper where you found it. Therefore, each Tuesday following my DesignHer Living column I will offer a related DesignHer Challenge.

When people share their stories of either success or struggle, there is almost always a seed of hope others can use to fertilize their own situations.  Those seeds can give us a little ‘oomph’ to persevere.  If we let the little seeds settle in, that’s where the real magic of progress grows.

If you need to review last week’s column on the power of the words Yes and No and following your own internal GPS system, click here.

This challenge revolves around the power of your yes and the empowerment of your no.

DesignHer Challenge #1

What in your life right now have you said ‘yes’ to that you know deep in your heart and in the pit of your gut  you know your reply should have been ‘no?’  What is it worth to your wellbeing and those around you to make your honest response known?  What is the worst thing that could happen?  How much better would you feel to rid your life of the ‘yes’ you’ve made?

My challenge to you is to either see your yes through with a glad heart or tell the parties involved you’ve thought it through further and you’ve had a change of heart.

Can you do it? Are you ready to lift the weight from your shoulders and pick up your true priorities? Give it a try and let me know how it feels.

To really push this challenge home, I invite you to share your ‘seeds’ with other DesignHer Living readers by sharing your challenge and how you tackled it in the Comment section below.  BHP makes it super easy – the only prerequisite is that you are a BHP member. Not a member? It’s free and easy to sign up. So, with that being said, let the ‘DesignHer Challenge’ begin.  Good Luck!
