Brentwood High senior Paul Stuart won the Chickasaw Trails cross country meet in Danville, Ala., and classmate Nathan Thomas was second in leading the Bruins to the boys team title.

Brentwood High won the Chicasaw Trails meet at Alabama's Oakville Indian Mounds Park on Saturday.

Sophomore Elizabeth Scott placed third in the girls race, where the Lady Bruins were third as a team.

Stuart, Thomas and Scott all posted times that qualified as national elite in the 5K event.

Stuart's winning time was 15:55.08 and Thomas clocked 16:00.71. His younger brother Alec Thomas, a sophomore, also reached national elite status with a fourth-place 16:10.08.

Scott ran the course in 19:24.49, while the winning time was 18:13.25. She was only 13 1/2 seconds out of second place.

BHS had 29 points to win the boys top division by 38 points over Mountain Brook, Ala., with all five scoring runners in the top 15. Sophomore Taylor Caldwell was eighth in 16:34.08, and Alec's twin brother Aaron Thomas was 14th at 16:49.88.

The Lady Bruins' team placed third.

Other runners for the Bruins were Daniel Hamm, Rahib Bashir, Coleman Churitch, Waqqas Fazili, Oliver Moore and Adam Blanton. The boys team had an average run time of 16.17,97 and a total time of 16.17.97.

Lady Bruins seniors Katherine Schenck (19:50.17) and Brittany Alexander (19:51.45) also made the top 10, at seventh and eighth, respectively.

Freshman Brianna Koshy (21:07.46) was 31st and senior Allison O'Neill (21:29.51) 43rd to round out Brentwood's scoring.

Other members of the BHS girls squad competing were Ansley Hardin, Anne Ramsey, Natalie Batiste, Emily Batiste, Emily Glascow and Katherine Smith.

The girls team had an average run time 20.20.62 and a total time of 1: 41.43.08 bringing in 92 points.
