Brentwood Academy - Samantha Becci
Samantha Becci, a Brentwood Academy senior, is nominated for her outstanding work on the BA Literary Magazine Flight and for participation in various dramatic productions at school.
Samantha makes a difference in all she does. Activities include yearbook, drama, Youth in Government and National Honor Society just to name a few.
One of the activities that Samantha is most proud of outside of school is her work with the Big Sister program where she is currently mentoring a sixth-grade girl. She has also won the Girl Scouts Gold Award and serves as Admissions Ambassador at BA.
“Samantha is a dedicated student, a strong contributor to our drama program, both on and off stage, and a delightful young lady. She is one of the finest writers and one of the best artists,” Principal Paul Compton said.
Samantha plans to study international studies with a minor in art in college. Her top picks for schools include UNC at Chapel Hill or Emory.

Brentwood High School - Jasmine Blue
Jasmine Blue is a freshman at Brentwood High School and has quickly become a valued member of the student body through her academic and athletic performance. Jasmine is a member of the lacrosse team and participates in Habitat for Humanity and Fellowship of Christian athletes at school.
Outside of school Jasmine is an active member of her youth group at church.
“Jasmine entered high school with the desire to learn and serve others. What great gifts she has to share with our BHS family,” said Mrs. Simmons, who nominated her.
"Jasmine has the ability to balance school work, practice and still contribute to student government, exhibiting her passion to learn and serve beyond herself. As a freshman representative she has contributed to the decision-making process involved in work as a student leader."
While college is still four years off Jasmine is already thinking about a medical career that will integrate her passion for writing.
“I love BHS. We have freedom here to be who we want to be and choose what clubs, classes we will enjoy,” Jasmine said. She is the daughter of Robert and Sylvia Blue.

Ravenwood High School - Steven Strait
Steven Strait, a senior at RHS, was nominated by teacher Marna Craig because of “Steven’s outgoing personality.” As a member of the yearbook team Steven enjoys the creativity and is learning a lot about producing an outstanding publication. Steven gives up a study hall to take the class, saying “the teachers make it fun while you are learning.”
Teacher Natalie Marbury boasts that “Steven’s optimistic, outgoing, vivacious, motivated personality creates this fun-loving, warm atmosphere and truly makes a difference in the yearbook classroom. He always volunteers first to help and is a critical player to the yearbook team. We are all thankful and blessed to work with him every day.”
One of seven children and a twin family is an important part of Steven’s life and success. Steven takes honors classes and in addition holds down a part-time job after school. For fun he enjoys lifting weights and working out.
He said Ms. Stefanie Buckner, his Honors English teacher last year, "inspired in me a love of English and the possibility that I may study to become an English teacher, too." Steven also plans to become a personal trainer as he has a passion for helping people with fitness.
