Sportsman's Lodge brings you the “Student of the Week” which will highlight accomplishments by the city’s outstanding high school students.  Sportsman's Lodge will provide each honored student with a $15 gift card to use at their family restaurant.

Each week, one student from each high school will be chosen by their principal to be featured for achievements including citizenship, volunteerism, leadership, academics, and much more.

Brentwood Academy -Britta Ristau

Britta Ristau, a senior at BA, is an outstanding student and athlete. She is a member of the Student Leadership Team, Model U.N., FCA, cross country team, tennis team and the wrestling cheerleading squad.

“Britta is one of the most accomplished and respected students. She is a gifted, diligent scholar, a dedicated athlete and true servant-leader,” said Paul Compton, Head of the Upper School.

Outside of school Britta finds time to sing in the youth choir at Brentwood United Methodist Church and has won the Girl Scouts Gold Award through her volunteer efforts.

Pre-calculus last year introduced Britta to one of her favorite teachers, Ms. Parker. Britta loves chemistry and science and is already looking at colleges. Top on the list are Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Washington University.

Parents Harry and Kim Ristau are proud of their daughter’s accomplishments.

Brentwood High School - Mathew Thomas

Mathew Thomas, a senior at BHS, was nominated because he is “a dedicated Bruin.”  “Nothing says school spirit like Mathew’s wearing cowboy boots, cut-off jean shorts and a girls volleyball jersey while cheering loudly for the Lady Bruins volleyball team. He is willing to do just about anything to show he cares about BHS,” Assistant Principal Kate Burgun said.

Another way Mathew shows he cares is by his efforts as an office worker. “He gets the job done during seventh period. He is always there for the faculty, delivering UPS packages. Never once has Mathew ever complained about a task he has been given,” said Linda Hoehn.

Ecology Honors is his favorite class, and Mathew loves math/science. He is hoping to study engineering in college.

In addition to a full course load, Mathew is a member of the football team where he plays lineman, and he also is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Proud parents are Ken and Brenda Thomas.

Ravenwood High School - Peyton Reichert

Freshman Peyton Reichert was nominated by Janice Litvack for “his outstanding work in the front office. Peyton is a valuable asset. He’s always cheerful and willing to help however he can.”

New to Williamson County and Ravenwood, Peyton has adjusted well to his new school environment.

Describing being a part of the Ravenwood community as “fun,” he enjoys his work in the front office. And he handles the responsibility with ease, everything from filing to assisting Dr. Vaden to the “odd jobs” that need to be done to keep the front office running smoothly.

“He sets an excellent example for others and is a joy to be around. Always smiling Peyton, is very polite and courteous,” Litvak said.

In the classroom Peyton is an outstanding student and enjoys World History with Mr. Boyd. Outside of the classroom he plays the cello and is a member of the Williamson County Youth Orchestra. Being a member of this extraordinary group of musicians requires Peyton to practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
