Ravenwood High School - Casey Rasmussen
Casey Rasmussen, a senior at RHS, was nominated for student of the week by John Silva who gave these reasons, “In the short time I have know her I can say that Miss Rasmussen is a diligent student, one who consistently strives to improve her writing and analytical skills. I also notice that she has another side – she is extremely compassionate and wants to help others. She expresses interest in becoming a teacher and I envision her as a great teacher, one I would trust to teach my own grandchildren.”
Another teacher had great things to say about Casey too: “Casey is probably one of the most delightful students I know,” said Stacey Ballard, RHS guidance counselor. Her smile and love for life are so contagious. As an example, Casey volunteered to write thank you notes for our local fire station. I asked her to take my camera in order for her to show what our STARS team was doing. I only expected one picture. She came back with 10. Some were of her in a fireman’s suit; others were of her driving the truck. No one but her could have immersed herself as she did.”
Casey shared that she “loves Ravenwood as the people are friendly, great standards for academics and a place I feel at home.”
As part of Casey’s service learning, she visits Crockett Elementary where she helps the students. With plans to become an elementary school teacher someday, Casey plans to attend Brigham Young in Utah.
Her parents are Greg and Leeann Rasmussen.
