Sportsman's Lodge brings you the “Student of the Week” which will highlight accomplishments by the city’s outstanding high school students.  Sportsman's Lodge will provide each honored student with a $15 gift card to use at their family restaurant.

Each week, one student from each high school will be chosen by their principal to be featured for achievements including citizenship, volunteerism, leadership, academics, and much more. 

Brentwood Academy - Michael Fister, valedictorian

Michael Fister was named valedictorian of the Brentwood Academy class of 2011, earning the highest grade point average with a 4.50 GPA.  Michael is a nationally recognized National Merit scholar.

Michael is an Eagle Scout, served as vice president of the National Honor Society, was a member of the tennis team, and was co-captain of the swim team. He also participates in church league basketball. He led a sophomore boys' Bible study and served as a Big Brother.

During his four upper school years, he took six advanced placement courses and 14 honors courses. Michael's success both inside the classroom and his involvement in the community are commendable.

His English teacher, Cindy Montgomery, calls Michael a natural learner who appreciates his God-given intelligence. He is a gifted thinker who has the unique ability to make connections on a higher plane of reasoning.

Michael will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was accepted at Vanderbilt, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest.
