Sportsman's Lodge brings you the “Student of the Week” which will highlight accomplishments by the city’s outstanding high school students.  Sportsman's Lodge will provide each honored student with a $15 gift card to use at their family restaurant.

Each week, one student from each high school will be chosen by their principal to be featured for achievements including citizenship, volunteerism, leadership, academics, and much more.

Brentwood Academy - Caroline Dodd

Brentwood Academy senior Caroline Dodd was appointed to Girls State, runs cross country, and is a member of the swim team, National Honor Society and Tech Crew.  She also is a Big Sister, serves as an Admissions Ambassador and participates with the LifeWay Girls Advisory Board, Youth Council at church and the Model U.N.

Paul Compten, Head of the Upper School, had these words to share about Caroline: “ ‘Amazing!’ is a word that is often used lightly, but Caroline is truly an amazing young lady. Not only does she excel in academics, athletics and seemingly everything else that she tries, but she also brightens the room with her humility and grace.”

At this time Caroline is undecided where she will attend college. One thing Caroline is decided upon, she will study in the field of nursing.

Caroline is the daughter of Thomas and Nana Dodd.

Brentwood High School - Sydney Rowe

Sydney Rowe, a senior at Brentwood High School, is a member of the Art Club, competes with the track team and runs cross country. Sydney’s favorite classes are art and psychology.

She also shares that “Mrs. Bullard has been a positive influence on me.” The feeling is mutual as teacher Barbara Bullard had this to say about Sydney: “Currently Sydney is a student in Art III Honors, as well as president of the Art Club. She is skilled at drawing and painting, as evidenced by recent honors in the Scholastic Arts Competition, where she received a Gold Key for Drawing, Honorable Mention for Drawing, and Honorable Mention for Painting.”

Sydney plans to pursue a career in art therapy and hopes to attend Brigham Young University.

Sydney is the daughter of David and Kelly Rowe.

Ravenwood High School - Austin Hetherington

Ravenwood High school sophomore Austin Hetherington is a member of Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Computational Linguistics Olympiad and Hand to Hand.

With a 4.6 GPA, Austin is an outstanding student leader of the sophomore class. Austin shared that he “loves Physics with Mr. King this year” and he loves Ravenwood because of the opportunities he has to be in clubs and participate in sporting events.

Assistant principal Leigh Webb said this about Austin: “An overall outstanding young man! Outside of his maturity and stellar academics, Austin is an honest, generous classmate who goes out of his way to make those around him feel appreciated. While taking the most demanding of course loads, Austin goes out of his way to show kindness to classmates. When we have new students transfer to RHS, Austin is the first student I try to introduce! He embodies the true spirit of a Ravenwood Raptor!”

Austin is the son of Brent and Raquel Hetherington.
