Sportsman's Lodge Student of the Week Dec. 14

Sportsman's Lodge brings you the “Student of the Week” which will highlight accomplishments by the city’s outstanding high school students.  Sportsman's Lodge will provide each honored student with a $15 gift card to use at their family restaurant.

Each week, one student from each high school will be chosen by their principal to be featured for achievements including citizenship, volunteerism, leadership, academics, and much more. 

 

Brentwood Academy - Sarah Clifton

Brentwood Academy senior Sarah Clifton's activities include Flight Literacy Magazine, Youth in Government, Admissions Ambassador, Big Sister, Wilderness Club, wrestling cheerleader and National Honor Society at BA.

Outside of school Sarah volunteers at Saddle Up and the Nashville Rescue Mission, earned her Girl Scouts Gold Award and, is an active member of her youth group. In addition Sarah is an accomplished poet, winning awards for her talents.

“Sarah is one of the most conscientious and trustworthy students I have known," said Paul Compten, principal of the BA Upper School. "She is truly multi-talented, and she works very hard to maximize her talents."

Sarah enjoys math, science and English. "My favorite class is AP Literature because I enjoy the subject matter, and because Mr. Sawyer is hilarious,” she said.

In college Sarah plans to take courses to prepare her for a career in the medical field.

Her parents are Sharon and Steve Clifton.

 

Brentwood High School - Aubrey McKee

Brentwood High School freshman Aubrey McKee is nominated for her willingness to help faculty and fellow students.

Aubrey is making her mark in high school in many ways. Recently at the holiday concert it was Aubrey who was credited with helping make the concert a success.

“Aubrey is a delight to have in class. She frequently helps other classes by playing the piano and is a gifted singer,” said Natalie Pratt, Aubrey’s choral teacher.

In addition to her musical talents, Aubrey enjoys playing basketball and softball.

Looking ahead to college already, Aubrey says “I’m pretty positive that I want to attend BYU. My interests for a future career are between music and sports medicine.”

Her parents are William and Ranae McKee.

 

Ravenwood High School - Michael Earhart

Michael Earhart, a senior at Ravenwood High School, was nominated in part for working with the media developer at a local company to help create multiple training and advertising videos. He took part in all of the facets of the production, from planning, then organizing the shoot to editing, said Jan Niedringhaus, Michael’s counselor at school.

She called him “a remarkable young man. He holds his own very well in an extremely competitive high school. Not only is he a great student, he is a talented photographer. He has a keen sense of fairness and has a very inquisitive mind. Michael likes to know both sides of any story."

Dr. Mason, assistant principal at RHS, said “Michael is an awesome student. I have served as his grade level administrator for two years. He always shows great enthusiasm for learning and is seen as a leader among his peers.”

Michael loves being a Ravenwood Raptor and is a member of the photography club. “Ravenwood is a very open and welcoming environment -- allows me the opportunity to explore without worry and I have great friends here at school,” Michael said.

Colleges he has applied to include the University of Evansville and Berry College. Michael plans to study communication and continue his photography.

His parents are Susie and Kevin Earhart.
