Ravenwood High School's wrestling team will have to wait another year to shoot for another state duals tournament title, but can still match last season's Class AAA third-place finish after splitting its first two matches. Brentwood Academy fell into the Division II losers bracket.

Four Brentwood Academy football players, a soccer player and a runner signed national letters-of-intent at a Wednesday school ceremony to compete collegiately next year. Linemen Woody Baron and Graham Shuler stuck to their original commitments to Virginia Tech and Stanford despite listening to other schools, while Al Thompson and Radir Anoor will play for in-state teams.

Brentwood Academy's boys basketball team led by a point at halftime but missed an opportunity to move into a tie atop the region Tuesday. Ravenwood's boys ended a five-game skid, but the Lady Raptors dropped a district game. BA's girls team also lost, while Brentwood High's teams both won  Monday.

Senior guard Emily Boyd, a Brentwood resident, is one of three Christ Presbyterian Academy girls  basketball players who reached the 1,000-point scoring mark within a two-week period.

Wide receiver Al Thompson thought he knew where he was playing college football back during his senior season in the fall at Brentwood Academy. But Thompson’s last-minute decision and late push by suitors illustrates just the crazy world of college football recruiting as national signing day approaches Wednesday. Teammate Radir Anoor made his decision Tuesday.
