With its wooded lots and hilltop views, Sonoma offers a welcome escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. But don’t let the pastoral setting fool you. As residents of this newer neighborhood in east Brentwood are quick to point out, convenience is one of Sonoma’s greatest selling points.
“Ravenwood High School is just down the road, and we are very convenient to the Cool Springs area,” says Jennifer Pope, whose family moved into their new home in July. “We love it because it’s close to everything, and yet nice and peaceful.”
Established in 2009, Sonoma is still in development by Turnberry Homes. The subdivision – which features lots ranging in size from .4 - .6 acres – will include 66 homes when completed. Currently there are four properties listed on realtracs.com, with prices ranging from $549,900 to $669,900. (Meanwhile, The Reserve at Sonoma offers larger estate lots, with custom homes built by Brentwood Builders.)
“We loved the half-acre lot, and the fact that each home is unique,” Pope says. “It looks more like a custom home – not the track building that you find in some areas. And Turnberry Homes was great to work with.”
As the onsite sales agent for Sonoma, Joni Wilson hears that a lot.
“Turnberry has really worked to streamline the process, making it easy for the buyer,” Wilson says. “Their design center is phenomenal, and they’ve won all kinds of awards – their reputation speaks volumes.”
Wilson also points to the builder’s efforts to preserve Sonoma’s natural assets as a positive.
“The whole community is wrapped in woods, and Turnberry has been very cognizant of preserving the land. So unlike a lot of new neighborhoods, Sonoma has beautiful wooded lots with plenty of mature trees.”
And while there are no formal amenities – such as a pool or clubhouse – the community offers plenty of green space, with walking/biking trails and sidewalks.
“The bike paths are great,” Pope says. “Our kids can hop on the trail and get to their friends’ houses in no time. And we have the most incredible views. We’re at the top of a hill so sitting on my deck, looking out on the mountains and trees, you feel like you’re in another world. And yet we’re close to everything. We just love it.”
