The Lady Bruins and the top-seeded Lady Raptors now get a day off before playing at 5 p.m. Thursday for a spot in Friday’s 7 p.m. championship game and a region berth. The loser would need to win at least one losers’ bracket game to make the final and would have to force a second championship game to be able to win the title.

Against Independence, BHS jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but gave up the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning. But the Lady Bruins erupted for three runs in the third, then scored again in the fourth, fifth and sixth.

Brentwood added two runs in the top of the sixth after the Lady Eagles closed within 6-4 in the fifth.

Jordan Galloway (5-4) was on the mound to pick up the win, while Shae Herrick (5-2) took the loss. Both pitchers gave up six hits apiece, but Independence had two errors.

In Tuesday’s second game, Ravenwood -- which went undefeated in the 10-game district schedule -- had to come back from a 2-0 deficit after yielding runs to Centennial in the first two innings.

RHS exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third and notched another run in the fourth. The Lady Raptors also held the Lady Cougars scoreless the rest of the way.

Two-sport standout Ashley Beyke ran her record on the mound to 16-5 for Ravenwood this season. The loss went to Centennial's Rayne Gravat (5-4).

Lindsey Thurman went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for RHS, while Kaytlin Queen also was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Third baseman Erica Graddy and shortstop Hannah Trainer are ready for RHS infield.
