Readers invited to share 'First Day' pictures Brentwood Home Page news reports It’s the first day of school, albeit a half day for all but the youngest Williamson County School students today. Kindergartners report on Aug. 22, giving their parents an extra week and a half to get ready for the separation.
With new bus stops and new school zones, safety is being urged for all.
“We will have officers stationed in many of the school zones tomorrow,” Capt. Tommy Walsh of the Brentwood Police Department said Wednesday. “We would ask motorists to use caution, pay close attention to the school zone lighting, and obey the 15 mile per hour speed limit. Motorists should also be on the lookout for pedestrians and buses in the school zones and neighborhoods.”
Edmondson, Crockett, Lipscomb, Scales and Sunset elementary schools start at 8:35 a.m. and will let out at 12:10 p.m. today. Regular dismissal time is 3:35 p.m.
Brentwood, Sunset and Woodland middle schools begin at 7:40 a.m., with an 11:15 a.m. dismissal today. Normal dismissal for middle schools is 2:40 p.m.
Brentwood and Ravenwood high schools ring the bell each morning at 7:25 a.m. Dismissal today will come at 11 a.m., with a 2:32 p.m. ending time on full days.
Brentwood Academy begins its year on Aug. 16, though student registration and other events are taking place this week.
