The Tennessee Senior Olympics committee has announced “save the date” information for its 2012 competitions. And Williamson County will again be the host for the Greater Nashville District Games and the state competitions.
The Tennessee Seniors Olympics mission is to promote healthy lifestyles for seniors aged 50 and up through fitness, sports, and an active involvement in life. Sports competitions range from badminton and bowling to racquetball and track and field events. There are team and individual sport opportunities.
The Greater Nashville District competition will take place April 30-May 5, with an April 13 registration deadline. The Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals are scheduled for July 13-19. The deadline to register is May 25. It is also a qualifying year for the National Senior Olympics, which will be held July 21 - August 5, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Registration will open in mid-March. The only stipulation is that participants are 50 years old by Dec. 31, 2012 and are a Tennessee resident or live no more than 30 miles from the state border.
