Speakers, authors and wine experts Barbara Nowak and Beverly Pittman (The Saucy Sisters) have been named the co-chairs for the "Students & Friends of Gail McDaniel Award,” a grants program benefiting teachers and children in Williamson and Davidson county public schools.

In their new role, the Saucies will work closely with McDaniel to help raise much-needed funds for arts education. They will make several special appearances, including the annual "Chase-Away-The-Blahs Party" fundraiser on Jan. 21, 2012.  Nowak and Pittman follow in the footsteps of The Hager Twins, who served as co-chairs from 2007-2008.

"We are delighted to have The Saucy Sisters serve as co-chairs of the 'Students & Friends of Gail McDaniel Award'," said McDaniel, who founded the educational grants program in 2001.

McDaniel has raised more than $81,000 over the past 10 years, including $7,042 in 2011.  Funds are distributed each February through FirstBank Cool Springs to more than a dozen area teachers and the PENCIL Foundation's LP PENCIL Box, a store that provides free educational supplies to area schools.
"As culinary artists and educators, we identify strongly with her efforts to support arts education in Williamson and Davidson counties,” said Nowak
