Senior Halle Jarnagin scored 22 points and junior Paige Parker had 18 as Brentwood defeated visiting Columbia 69-49 in its basketball home-opener Thursday night.

Parker hit on 3 of 5 from 3-point range after going 3-for-3 in the season’s first game Tuesday for the Lady Bruins (2-0). Jarnagin hit 6 of 7 free throws and grabbed eight rebounds, while twin sister Sara Jarnagin also had eight boards.

Millie Tunnel was also in double-figures with 14 points. Hope Herline scored 7 points and also pulled down eight rebounds, while Olivia Shealy and Sara Jarnagin added four points.

BHS has a double-header at home with the boys team next Tuesday night, despite Williamson County Schools being on fall break all Thanksgiving week.

Brentwood 61, Columbia 31, boys

Jack Bautista hit a trio of 3-pointers for the Bruins, who got their first victory of the season in their home-opener. Bautista and Will Jones tied for high-scoring honors with Will Jones with 13 points apiece.

Junior forward Cody Shelton chipped in with 12 points, while Jack Montague and Luke Pastina also each hit a 3 for BHS (1-1). BHS opened up a 20-9 first-quarter lead and stretched it to 37-14 at the half.

Instead of the getting the week off during the school's long Thanksgiving break, the Bruins have home games on Tuesday (Beech), Thursday (Franklin County) and Saturday (Lebanon).

Ravenwood 52, West Creek 30, boys

Joey Barnes, a 6-8 junior post player, came up big for the host Raptors (2-0) with 19 points. Guard Devin Robinson scored 16 points and Andy Moore added 10, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Ravenwood jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.  RHS plays next Tuesday at Overton during the Thanksgiving week break in a double-header with the girls team.

Ravenwood 50, West Creek 47, girls

Senior Logan Hodskins scored 16 points and the host Lady Raptors held off West Creek High School.

Jayne Rice and Lexi McKay were the team's other double-figure scorers with 10 each, and Hodskins hit Ravenwood's only 3-pointer.

RHS (2-0) fell behind 14-4 but exploded for 21 second-quarter points to lead 25-21. The Lady Raptors tip off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and also play Glencliff on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Lavergne High.

Centennial  49, Brentwood Academy 47, boys

BA was outscored 13-9 in the final quarter to fall in its season-opener to visiting Centennial (1-1), which was led by Matt Pond's 26 points.

Less than a week after the Eagles football team's comeback fell short in the quarterfinals, running back D'montre Wade was on the basketball court and had nine points. Eric Henninger, a BA baseball standout, and Josh Lester also scored nine each.

Danny McGrath hit two baskets from 3-point range, while Henninger and Wade also each sank a 3. Harrison Alexander, who caught 3 TDs in BA's football comeback attempt last Friday, and Tyler Emery each chipped with four points.

Brentwood Academy 52, Antioch 36, girls

Jai Murphy led BA with 13 points and Taylor McFarland scored 11 to help the Lady Eagles pull away from visiting Antioch for their first win.

McFarland made the team's only 3-point bucket. Nine different players scored for Brentwood Academy (1-1).

Both BA teams don't play next week, then go on the road for games on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Hillsboro, and Friday, Dec. 2, at University School.
