BA boys beat MBA; BHS, RHS, BA girls all win
Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood High School's boys basketball team rolled up its ninth consecutive victory, rallying to outlast host Hillsboro 47-39 in District 11-AAA action Tuesday night.
Will Jones scored 13 points for the Bruins, who trailed 23-16 at halftime. BHS (15-4, 2-0 11-AAA) blew open the game by outscoring the Burros (9-9, 1-2) in the third quarter 22-6.
Asa Duvall, Cole Harrison and Jack Montague had eight points each, and Cody Shelton scored five points after returning recently from a knee injury.
The Bruins now play at rival Franklin (7-11, 1-1) on Friday night, with the boys game following the 6 p.m. girls tipoff.
Brentwood Academy 50, MBA 48, boys
Football star D'montre Wade poured in 16 points and sank a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining, helping BA send Montgomery Bell Academy to its first region defeat.
Eric Henninger chipped in with 12 points for the Eagles (5-8, 1-1), who evened their record in the Division II-AA East/Middle Region. MBA (9-4, 2-1) was led by David Howard's 25 points.
Wade hit two treys and Henninger also connected from behind the arc for Brentwood Academy.
The Eagles will play host to John Paul II (12-4, 0-2) in Friday's double-header starting with the girls game at 6 p.m.
Ravenwood 63, Centennial 53, boys
Devin Robinson scored 20 points and Joey Barnes had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds to help the Raptors pull away from host Centennial.
Ravenwood (13-2, 2-0 11-AAA) led by only a point after each of the first three quarters, but had a 21-12 advantage in the final period.
Andy Moore (12 points) shot 6-of-8 from the field, and Mike McAllister (8 points) connected on 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Robinson had nine assists and three steals, while Barnes sank 7 of 10 free throws.
RHS now takes on Independence (15-4, 2-1) in a big district road game at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Brentwood 43, Hillsboro 41, girls
Olivia Shealy scored 13 points including a 3-pointer to help the Lady Bruins edge Hillsboro and stay unbeaten in district play.
BHS (14-2, 2-0) fell behind 15-9 out of the gate but took a 21-19 lead into halftime over the Lady Burros (12-8, 2-1). Halle Jarnagin finished with nine points, and Millie Tunnell had eight.
Brentwood was last season's tournament champ, and Hillsboro won the regular-season title. Franklin (11-7, 1-1) will host the Lady Bruins at 6 p.m. Friday.
Ravenwood 39, Centennnial 19, girls
Erin Johnson had 12 points and hit a 3-pointer, while Logan Hodskins had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the Lady Raptors' road victory.
RHS (10-5, 1-1 district) handed the Lady Cougars (3-14, 0-3) their ninth straight loss. Ravenwood now travels to Independence (11-6, 1-1) next for a 6 p.m. game time on Friday.
Lexi McKay pulled down 14 rebounds and also scored eight points for the Lady Raptors.
Brentwood Academy 56, Harpeth Hall 48, girls
Hailey Pierson netted 19 points to help the visiting Lady Eagles (9-8, 1-1) bounce back from a region-opening loss last week.
Jai Murphy chipped in with nine points and Taylor McFarland added eight as BA dropped the Honeybears to an 0-3 start in DII-AA Middle/East play.
Brentwood Academy's girls will tip off at 6 p.m. Friday against JPII (12-4, 1-1), which like BA has defeated Harpeth Hall and lost to Ensworth.
