ROUNDUP: BHS teams stay unbeaten atop 11-AAA

Brentwood High School's boys captured their 13th straight victory by topping second-place Independence, and the Lady Bruins also remained unbeaten atop the District 11-AAA standings.

Brentwood Academy's teams took a pair of wins over Montgomery Bell Academy and Harpeth Hall, with the boys nipping at Ensworth's heels.

Brentwood High 54, Independence 43, boys

Jack Montague and Asa Duvall combined for seven 3-pointers, pushing Brentwood's lead in District 9-AAA to two games over host Independence.

Montague hit a trio of treys on his way to 17 points, while Duvall netted four from 3-point range and tallied 15 points. Will Jones chipped in with 14 points for the Bruins.

BHS trailed 12-7 after the first quarter and fought back from a 28-20 halftime deficit to overtake the Eagles 35-33. After outscoring IHS 15-5 in the third quarter, Brentwood stayed on the throttle to win the final quarter 19-10.

Josh Barr, the leading scorer for Independence with 21 points, sank four of the Eagles' nine 3-pointers. Cam Miller and Trenton Perry had two apiece.

Brentwood High 44, Independence 33, girls

Senior guard Halle Jarnagin hit four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points as the Lady Bruins solidified their hold on the top spot in District 11-AAA.

Brentwood (17-2, 5-0) cranked out a 24-13 first-half advantage in the road victory.

Millie Tunnell notched nine points, Paige Parker's 8 points included a 3-pointer, and Olivia Shealy provided seven points for BHS.

Brentwood Academy 52, Montgomery Bell Academy 43, boys

Brentwood Academy's big men, Eric Henninger and Josh Lester, combined for 20 points to help the host Eagles complete a regular-season sweep of Montgomery Bell Academy.

Henninger posted 11 points and Josh Lester scored nine -- even stepping out and hitting a 3-pointer. The Eagles gave up 18 points to the Big Red's 6-foot-9, 225-pound David Howard, but allowed just eight by guard Austin Blackwell.

Point guard Tyler Emery added eight points, while Al Thompson and D'Montre Wade each had seven points and a 3-pointer for BA.

The Eagles led by just a point after the first quarter and by only 26-24 at halftime, but pushed ahead 40-33 after the third period. BA has now won four consecutive region games heading into Friday's home game with Battle Ground Academy.

Brentwood Academy 61, Harpeth Hall 50, girls

Tayler McFarland poured in 16 points and Caylyn Harvey had 15 points to help put the Lady Eagles back in the win column.

BA (10-10, 2-3) broke open a 9-9 first-quarter game by going on an 18-9 run in the second quarter.

McFarland sank a pair of 3-pointers, and Jai Murphy and Lizz Pease also connected from behind the arc.
