Ravenwood teams both win on Senior Night; Eagles fall to Chattanooga squads

Brentwood High's basketball teams swept visiting Franklin on Friday for both Bruins squads to remain in first place in District 11-AAA, and the boys even clinched a share of the regular-season title.

The Ravenwood boys and girls both won their games against Nashville Central Christian on Senior Night, while Brentwood Academy dropped region contests against McCallie and Girls Preparatory School.

Brentwood High 84, Franklin 40, boys

Senior guard Jack Montague sank a trio of 3-pointers and scored 19 points to help the host Bruins assume themselves at least a share of the District 11-AAA championship.

BHS (21-5, 7-1) rushed out to a 27-9 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 47-20 against the rival Rebels. Brentwood's only district loss is to Hillsboro (7-3 11-AAA) with two games remaining next week.

Asa Duvall contributed another 15 points for Brentwood and hit one of the Bruins' seven 3-pointers, while Jack Maher added 10 points.

Andy Schumpert (9 points). Gates Gustafson (7 points) and Jack Bautista (5 points) also connected from behind the arc for BHS. Cole Harrison scored seven and Will Jones six.

Brentwood plays host to Centennial on Tuesday and to Ravenwood next Friday, but Hillsboro is finished with district action.

Ravenwood 65, Nashville Central Christian 45, boys

Devin Robinson, who had 17 points, and Andy Moore, with 16 points and four 3-pointers, celebrated RHS senior night with a big non-conference victory.

Junior  Joey Barnes also enjoyed a stellar night with 15 points for the Raptors, and Matthew Hailey scored nine. Mike McAllister and Jonathan Coles each hit a 3-pointer.

Ravenwood improved to 3-5 in the district, with road games left at Franklin on Tuesday and at Brentwood on Friday.

The Raptors rebounded from a 68-62 loss in Thursday's non-district game at Cane Ridge. Robinson had four 3-pointers and 21 points in that defeat.

McCallie School 56, Brentwood Academy 46, boys

BA led by 28-25 at halftime, but was outscored 13-3 in the third quarter in a region loss against visiting McCallie of Chattanooga.

D'montre Wade scored nine points, Tyler Emery and Josh Lester had eight apiece, and Danny McGrath scored seven for the Eagles.

Brentwood Academy must turn around Saturday and visit Battle Ground Academy at 8 p.m. The Eagles then have region games on the road to Pope John Paul II on Tuesday and Baylor School next Friday, before finishing up at home Tuesday, Feb. 14 against Father Ryan.

Brentwood High 57, Franklin 43, girls

Paige Parker scored 15 points and Halle Jarnagin had 12 points, with both hitting a pair of 3s for the Lady Bruins in a victory over visiting Franklin.

The Lady Bruins also jumped out to a big lead against RHS, 22-11 after the first quarter and 34-19 at the half.

Brentwood and Hillsboro each only have one loss in the district -- to each other -- but BHS has two less victories while the Lady Burros are finished with district play.

Millie Tunnell chipped in with nine point and Olivia Shealy added eight points for Brentwood. Mackenzie Puckett's game-high 23 points led Franklin.

Lexi McKay bucketed 19 points and Erin Johnson scored 10 on Senior Night as the Lady Raptors got back in the winning column.

Brandi Devore hit a pair of 3s on her way to eight points, Johnson sank a trey, and Collen Leyrer also hit a long-range basket. Jayne Rice added seven points.

RHS took a 23-11 advantage at intermission and never looked back. The Lady Raptors have district games left at Franklin on Tuesday and at Brentwood in next Friday's regular-season finale.

Ravenwood also fell in a non-district game at Cane Ridge on Thursday, 51-42. Devore had four 3s for a team-high 12 points, and Colyn Springer had a trio of treys for nine points.

Girls Preparatory School 59, Brentwood Academy 48, girls

Hailey Pierson had 16 points and Jai Murphy 12 in the Lady Eagles' home loss to GPS.

BA, outscored 19-6 in the second quarter, plays at BGA at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Remaining games are at JPII and Baylor next week and home against Ryan on Feb. 14.
