The Brentwood Academy golf team placed second in the Division II-AA East/Middle Region tournament on Monday.

Ravenwood hosts Brentwood in volleyball, plays final district soccer game tonight

Brentwood Academy’s Dylan Healey was low medalist and the Eagles golf team placed second at the Division II-AA East/Middle Region Championship.

Brentwood and Ravenwood golfers, meanwhile, open state tournament play Tuesday in Manchester, while BHS visits RHS in the second Battle of the Woods volleyball match of the regular season. And the Lady Raptors soccer team plays its final district game this season.

GOLF

BA runner-up in region tourney: The Eagles shot 304 on Monday behind Healey's 1-over par 72 and runner-up Chan Schoerke's 73.  Taylor Davis also played well, contributing a 77, and Matthew Broadbent rounded out the scoring with an 82.

BA advances into the TSSAA Division II-AA state tournament next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 11-12, at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester, Tenn.

Region champion McCallie shot 302, and Battle Ground Academy and Pope John Paul II tied for third at 312.

Class AAA state tourney opens: The Brentwood boys golf team and Ravenwood's Katie Parrott, both regional champions, begin pursuit of Class AAA state titles Tuesday along with other golfers from both schools.

 Brentwood's Ryan Grundberg (81) starts on the back nine at WillowBrook Golf Course in Manchester, Tenn., at 8:20 a.m. Sophomore teammate Chris Tyminski  (78) is in the next group at No. 10 at 8:30 a.m.

Peyton McClure (74) of BHS has an 8:40 a.m. tee time, and Grant Lawrence (73) follows at 8:50 a.m. Alternate Drew Grundberg plays in the 9 a.m. foursome.

Ravenwood's Jonathan Wise (76) tees off in a group at No. 10 at 8 a.m., and the Raptors' region third-place medalist Davis Baxter (73) has a 9:20 a.m. start on the back nine. Baxter and Wise qualified as individuals.

Parrott (73) was tied for the lowest region round and is paired with Bearden's Kelli Pemberton and two others in an 8:20 a.m. grouping off the No. 1 tee.

Catherine Doyle of BHS (85) tees off at the first hole at 9:40 a.m., and Lady Bruins teammate Sarah Kleine-Kracht (104) is in the final foursome that starts off No. 1 at 10:30 a.m.

VOLLEYBALL

RHS hosts BHS in Battle of the Woods II: Defending state champion Ravenwood hasn't lost to a team in District 11-AAA -- or in the state of Tennessee for that matter -- going into Tuesday's home match against Brentwood at 6 p.m. The Lady Raptors won the first meeting 3 games to 1.

RHS swept past Independence 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-20) on Thursday, led by sophomore Kat Hutson's 20 kills. Alyssa Ivey had 36 assists, and Micaela Bailey made 17 digs.

Brentwood High defeated Centennial 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23) on Thursday behind 13 kills from Sarah Tuttle, 20 assists by Hunter Thompson, and 12 digs by Alexis Spahn.

GIRLS SOCCER

Lady Raptors play district finale; Bruins get off day: Ravenwood (6-3, 2-2) plays its final District 11-AAA game of the season at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against winless Hillsboro. The Lady Raptors can finish third behind Franklin (3-0 in 11-AAA) and Brentwood (4-1), who both beat RHS

Christina Lowder and Christi Padgett scored goals in Ravenwood's 2-1 victory over Blackman on Thursday, and Elizabeth Hull made six saves at keeper. Haley Lemasters and Hailey Leonard had assists on the two scores.

Brentwood, which beat Siegel 1-0 last Thursday, plays Station Camp at home at 7 p.m. this Thursday.
