Robert Earl Forrester, age 69 of Brentwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on New Year's Day at Select Specialty Hospital after an extended illness. Bob was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a medic in Germany from 1964 to 1966. After serving his country, he returned to David Lipscomb University and graduated with a degree in History in 1969. After graduation, he spent his career working with General Mills. After his retirement from General Mills, he spent 6 years with the David Lipscomb Athletic Department.
Bob served as a deacon at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ and spent many summers serving at the youth summer camp. He was a friend to everyone and gave of himself to his family, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Vera Forrester of Union City, TN; and sister, Laura Forrester Dancy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jane; two sons, Robbie and wife, Stephanie; two grandchildren, Tyler and Tinsley, and Mark and his girlfriend, Katie Marshall, all of Nashville; mother-in-law, Ruth Howell of Nashville; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Daugherty of Knoxville. Other survivors include nephews, Michael Denham, Robert and John Dancy; and nieces, Linda Dancy, Susan Dancy Lesowyk, Kathy Dancy Parker and Carol Dancy Papenfuss. Bob will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Visitation with the family Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, 5120 Franklin Road with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at the church by Jonathan Seamon. Interment Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
