Road trip means missing one wild weekend
Road trip means missing one wild weekend | BrentWord, Brentwood Home Page, Susan Leathers, brentwood tn news, Ben Maenza, Wounded Warrior Project, 2011 Soldier Ride, Ricky Watson

If you've landed on this spot looking for a new BrentWord, alas you'll have to wait another day. Though the past few days were among the busiest the city’s seen in a while, I didn’t experience any of it. Not the Rendezvous at Ravenswood, not the Parade of Homes preview party, not the amazing Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride.

Late Sunday I got my first peek at BHP photographer Peg Fredi's images from the 25- and 50-mile bike rides that took place in Williamson County over the weekend. Peg tells me it was one of the most moving experiences she has ever had the opportunity to shoot. We'll have a special report from the event on Tuesday.

I also missed the Ravenwood High School homecoming festivities -- and the related late night/early morning pre-parade shenanigans that led to a very interesting Letter to the BHP Editor.  Apparently there’s been lots of chatter in response to the correspondence penned by Williamson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. I sure hope our own doctor, Dr. Jim Wellborn, our 'There's a Stranger in my House' columnist, will weigh in on the issue.

I missed the update on Skippy Lou, the missing retriever, posted on our Brentwood Home Page Facebook page:

“Hey neighbors: We have confirmed sightings of Skippy Lou in McKay's Mill as well as the McKay's Mill Publix within the past few days. Also on Clovercroft near Tulloss (Saturday) tonight around dusk. Please continue to keep an eye out for her. Reports confirm that she is hungry and scared.”

And I learned upon arrival that a young male basset hound was found on Edmondson Pike over the weekend. Are you missing one?

Then there's the snake. It seems another snake has been found in the city that needs identifying. When we declared ourselves "the go to place for everything Brentwood," we never thought snake detective would be among our services. Well, we don't have the answer yet -- but we will, as long as a story about exactly what kind of snakes you might expect to see here. Obviously this is a subject that needs exploring.

Like I said, it wasn’t a weekend to be gone, but sometimes – like when your relatives in Virginia send you a plane ticket – you have to leave the Bubble.

So please check back. Hope to have a real BrentWord – and some thoughts, opinions and updates on a few of the stories mentioned above -- posted soon!
