Ravenwood High School’s wrestling team, which finished third in the state in duals last year, is ranked No. 8 in the first statewide coaches’ poll of the season.

The Raptors won the Harpeth Tournament on Saturday with 222.5 points to Brentwood Academy’s second-place 165.5 points. BA also received votes in the state coaches’ poll.

Jacob Freeman, Tanner Reynolds, Grant Jones, Camden Grecco, Jonathan Mabry and Bowen Reau all won their weight classes for RHS. Also making the finals were Kyle Kuehnhold and Jack Finnegan. Evan Long placed third.

The Raptors improved to 4-2 in dual matches this season after squeaking past Dickson County Thursday night 39-36. The wrestling team has now beaten Harpeth, Sycamore and McGavock, with losses to Wilson Central and Clarksville Northwest.

Now in its 20th year, the Tennessee Wrestling Poll is primarily a measure of dual meet strength with some consideration to individual tournament strength.  Votes are cast by a statewide panel of high school wrestling coaches and are based on a maximum Power Ranking of 100 percent.
