Brentwood Home Page news reports Ravenwood High School, which captured the Overton tournament in school-record fashion, is ranked in the first Tennessee High School Coaches' Wrestling Poll of the season.
The Raptors are rated 12th behind two district rivals, No. 10 Franklin and No. 11 Independence. RHS opened the season by winning the Beech Duals and then captured the Fall Brawl at Overton last weekend with a new school record of 260 team points.
Taylor Warren, at 135 pounds, won the Outstanding Wrestler Award and was one of seven Raptor wrestlers winning their weight class at Overton. Also taking titles were: 112, Robin Klingensmith; 130, Bradly Butters; 140, Ryan Churchill; 171, Camden Grecco; 215, Harrison Hawthorne; and 285, Dylan Yeager.
Runner-ups were Jacob Travis at 103, Michael Gray at 145, and Cody Stewart at 189. Jack Finnegan, the 125-pounder, and 152-pound Robbie Billings placed third.
The RHS wrestlers have a match at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Overton, another one at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Montomgery Bell Academy, and the Clarksville Slamfest on Saturday.
The coaches' poll is now in its 19th year and is the oldest and most inclusive team ranking in the state. In addition to representing some of the most experienced and respected coaches in Tennessee, the pollsters represent all geographic areas, both Division I and Division II, and a variety of school sizes.
The wrestling poll primarily a measure of dual meet strength with some consideration to individual tournament strength.
Chattanooga-area schools, led by Bradley Central, take the top four spots, with Father Ryan ranked fifth. Current ranking, power ranking and last year's final ranking:
