MURFREESBORO – Defending state champ Ravenwood won its first two matches at the TSSAA Class AAA state volleyball tournament Wednesday and moves into the winners’ bracket final Thursday afternoon.

Lady Raptors seniors not just teammates / BFFs but like 'sisters'

The Lady Raptors (45-8) now stand only two victories away from a repeat championship. RHS dispatched Knoxville Farragut 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-21) in the first match, and then defeated Sullivan South in four games (25-23, 25-9, 22-25, 25-16) at MTSU.

Ravenwood will play in the winners’ bracket at 1 p.m. Thursday at Blackman High School against last night’s winner of Siegel-Independence. The Lady Raptors have already beat Independence in the regular season, the district finals and for the region championship.

If the Lady Raptors win Thursday, they will play in Friday’s 6 p.m. championship match at MTSU. If they lose, they will fall into the losers’ bracket finals at 4:30 p.m. at Blackman for another chance at making the finals.

RHS hasn’t lost to a team from Tennessee so far this season.
