Brentwood Home Page news reports The Ravenwood Raptor’s varsity hockey team closed out the regular season with a 5-1 win over Father Ryan. Ravenwood netted the first goal from Tate Janasek, assisted by Justin Stelzer and Van Sullivan. Father Ryan tied it up with a goal scored by Austin Wasyliw. After a closely matched first period the rest of the game was controlled by the Raptors. The game winning goal was scored by Captain Corbin Pefanis, assisted by Nathan “Shrek” Traczewski, and Justin Steltzer. The remaining three goals were scored by Steltzer, Traczewski, and Taylor Fagan. Ryley Hynes was stellar between the pipes allowing only one goal and a .955 save percentage. Father Ryan, who were the 2008-2009 league champions, honored their graduating seniors before the game. Ravenwood, the 2009-2010 champions, have no seniors on their team. The Raptors finished the regular season in third place behind Brentwood and JPII in the gold division with a 12-3-1 record after graduating nine seniors the previous year. Junior Nathan Traczewski led the entire GNASH league with 44 points in 16 games. Juniors Corbin Pefanis, Van Sullivan, and Sophmore Justin Steltzer also ranked in the top 25 scorers. GNASH playoffs start on February 2.
