Brentwood Home Page news reports Ravenwood High graduate Noah Sanders, a bass singer, will appear in four performances this week of the St. Olaf College Christmas Festival, one of the nation's longest-running celebrations of the season.
Sanders, a member of the Chapel Choir, will sing Dec. 2-5 in the festival, which first took place in 1912. The St. Olaf concert is a two-hour program of hymns, carols, choral works and orchestral selections that celebrate the birth of Christ.
Sanders, a sophomore whose major is studio art, is the son of Dr. Charles and Rebecca Sanders of Brentwood. St. Olaf is a liberal arts college in Northfield, Minn., under the auspices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
This year's concert, A Child, a Son, the Prince of Peace, will be broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio and most regional classic music stations, plus streamed live online at minnesota.publicradio.org, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. An encore will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Dec. 23.
More than 12,000 people attend the annual performances, and more than 500 student musicians perform in five choirs and the St. Olaf Orchestra.
PBS will air Christmas at St. Olaf: Where Peace and Love and Hope Abide, a one-hour presentation of the 2007 St. Olaf Christmas Festival as part of its national holiday programming. Check local PBS listings for dates and times.
