Brentwood Home Page news reports The Ravenwood girls are having fun on the court in Florida too during winter break, while Brentwood High's boys and girls teams also won their tournament openers Tuesday.
The RHS boys, playing just up the road at Overton High, weren't as lucky.
RHS girls: Erin Lauderdale scored 10 of her 22 points in the second quarter as the Lady Raptors defeated Central High-Milton (Fla.) 71-44 in the Hernando High Holiday Basketball Classic in Brooksville, Fla.
Lydia Wright had 10 points, scoring six in the opening period as RHS jumped ahead 12-2. Lauderdale had 10 rebounds and hit three 3-pointers, while Logan Hodskins finished with 12 points and four steals.
The Lady Raptors (10-3) now play Wednesday night against Lakeland-McKeel Academy (Fla.).
BHS boys: The Bruins won 68-48 over Waverly in the Hickman County Christmas Invitational behind 24 points from Jack Montague and 20 from Cody Shelton. Montague nailed four 3-pointers in the game.
BHS (11-5) was tied 18-18 after the first quarter but pushed ahead with a 17-7 second quarter and exploded for 25 fourth-quarter points.
Brentwood now goes up against Hunters Lane at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Centerville, Tenn.
BHS girls: The Lady Bruins (10-1) continued their dominance on the basketball court this season with a 71-43 victory over winless Hendersonville in the Beech Holiday Tournament.
Kyla Kerstetter poured in 24 points for Brentwood, while Paige Parker scored 13.
The BHS girls team plays again at 4 p.m. Wednesday against a tough Clarksville team (13-2). The Lady Wildcats, led by highly recruited 6-2 junior forward Bashaara Graves, are unbeaten in the state and rated 36th nationally by ESPN.
RHS boys: The Raptors (9-4) dropped a 71-65 defeat to Westwood at the Overton tournament after leading 30-29 at the half.
Ravenwood now takes on Creekside at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Sam Wilcox, with 15 points, led four Raptors in double figures. Devin Robinson scored 12, Riley Stoner had 11 and Robert Veal added 10.
