Brentwood Home Page news reports Ravenwood's girls basketball team earned a District 11-AAA rematch with rival Brentwood and a spot in next week's regionals by defeating Centennial in Wednesday's tournament opener, 59-48.
The semifinal between the Lady Raptors (21-7) and No. 2-seeded Lady Bruins (20-4) tips off at 4 p.m. Saturday at Centennial's gym. The Ravenwood boys will follow at 5:30 p.m. and the Brentwood boys will play at 8:30 p.m.
Erin Lauderdale led RHS with 15 points and Ashley Beyke scored 14 in Wednesday's 11-AAA quarterfinal, played on the Lady Raptors' homecourt. Beyke sank a trio of treys and Lauderdale hit a pair of 3s in the victory.
Jayne Rice and Logan Hodskins added 11 points apiece for RHS. Allyson Baker, with four 3-point baskets, was top scorer for the Lady Cougars (4-21) with 16 points.
In the regular-season girls matchups, Ravenwood and Brentwood split with the visiting teach winning each time, RHS 35-32 on Jan. 21 and BHS 50-35 last Friday.
Boys' first-round games will be tonight at home sites, with the Bruins and Raptors getting byes into Saturday's semifinals at CHS and an automatic berth in the Region 6-AAA tournament next week. District 11-AAA consolation and championships are Monday-Tuesday.
BA girls third in region
In a regular-season finale Tuesday, Brentwood Academy's girls (19-9, 9-3) are in third in the region after falling to Ensworth 38-32. Samford signee Taylor Reece had 14 points including a pair of 3-pointers in the Lady Eagles' loss.
Ensworth (18-8, 9-2), led by Justice Sweatt's 10 points, is in second place behind Girls Preparatory School after defeating Battle Ground Academy on Wednesday.
The Division II-AA Middle/East region will play its tournament at Father Ryan High School.
