Announcement expected following spring break

Ravenwood High School, which had to reopen its job search, will probably name a new football coach this week.

The school won't make an announcement until after the Williamson County Schools central office reopens, Raptors Athletic Director Patrick Whitlock indicated Friday. Officials had interviewed at least 10 candidates heading into spring break last week and were hoping with a best-case scenario to have someone in place when students return to school.

Virginia prep coach Del Smith resigned from the position in early March about six weeks after he was named to replace Tom Shuman, head coach for 2009 and '10.
