The Ravenwood Raptors boys basketball team hosted the Aussie Travelers from Australia Wednesday night at RavenwoodHigh School. The Travelers are on a month long tour of the US, and have played teams from Las Vegas to Kentucky.
“We ate a pregame meal with them (Aussie Travelers) and most kids on the team are hosting them for two nights in their home,” said RHS head coach Patrick Whitlock. “Very cool experience!”
The Travelers came to Ravenwood looking to beat the Raptors, who have won five straight heading into the contest. The Travelers came out and took a 12 point lead into half time.
The Raptors cut the lead to four at the end of the third quarter, and took the lead for good at 42-41 with 5:30 left to go in the game. The Raptors pushed the lead to 12 with a minute and a half to go.
The Travelers made one final run when Jordan Hughes hit a three to cut the lead to four with 16 seconds to play. The Raptors held on to win by 4.
