Game to  help fund scholarship in memory of former Raptor
Brentwood Home Page news reports
Ravenwood is holding a Pack the Park for Patton fundraiser event Thursday as part of the Battle of the Woods varsity and JV softball games against Brentwood.

The second annual event will benefit the Elizabeth Patton Memorial Fund in honor of a former RHS player who passed away in December 2008. A donation box for the fund will be at the gate, and the RHS principal is allowing admission for the Pack for the Park people to be free.

There will be a small ceremony between the varsity and junior varsity games no earlier than 6:15 p.m. The varsity game starts at 4:30 p.m.

The memorial fund helps fund scholarships for Ravenwood students.

“Elizabeth was an exceptional Raptor softball player who brought spirit and teamwork to the game,” RHS softball coach Kari Akin said.

A few past players are coming to speak to the team at the pre-game meal at the field.

Patton’s parents and some past and present players will speak at the short ceremony honoring Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Patton died at age 17 from a rare autoimmune skin disorder after being treated for two weeks at Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s burn unit.

Her junior year Patton led Ravenwood to its first District 11-AAA softball title, and she also was a basketball standout for the Raptors.
