By JODI RALL Brentwood Home Page columnist Pink is not just for the ladies as men in the bubble were looking good on Saturday night. My Ken doll stayed home to watch football, poor baby Gator had a rough night, and I went out on the town to a party with a few of my closest friends. No, I didn’t know a soul but that did not keep me from introducing myself and now, have some new friends to write about.
Packed with patrons and fans of the artists performing, jon alan salon in the Meridian Cool Springs was the backdrop for a party to raise money and awareness for the the non-profit Look Good Feel Better. With a $10 donation, guests could mix and mingle while eating samplings of food from Boscos and Swanky’s to name a few. And then there were the desserts. Pink heaven is all I’m saying as Gigi’s Cupcakes and Nucci’s frozen gelato were enjoyed by guests. If that was not enough, a candy bar of sweet treats lined the wall for guests to nibble on.

Then there was the bar…Brinkmann’s is always ready and willing to make a donation to a great cause. Guests could sip on great wine or the ‘other’ drink of the night, a ‘Pink chambray martini.’ I must say a special thank you Alan Snetman for buying me one, the cocktail was scrumptious.
There was something for everyone too as guests got their pictures taken at the photo booth dressed in boas, hats, glasses and crazy pink headdresses; so much fun! You must see the photos from the evening, we had a blast.
As a music lover, we are blessed in Nashville to have artists and writers who take the time to give back to their community. Chris Burke was the first artist to perform with guitarist Chad Stuible by his side. Graciously donating all proceeds from the sale of his CD to the event, Chris and his music were amazing.
Second up to perform was James Slater, who famously wrote “In Her Eyes” performed by Martina McBride. Great song so I had to ask if he was inspired by a daughter? No, he laughed, the song was actually written about his niece. Loved catching up with James who shared he had just returned from shooting a video that will be out later in the year.
The third act to take the stage was the band Needmore! If you are not familiar with this group, check them out! Lead singer Garrett McArthur had fans from Florida and New Jersey come out to see him perform. Wow, great music and great people.

In talking with Amber Straw, who called the planning of the evening “a team effort,” I learned that all three area Jon Alan Salons helped recruit donations for the evening. For a first-time effort, let me express as a guest it was fabulous. I go to a lot of parties and this one ‘set the bar pretty high.’ The American Cancer Society supports programs for cancer survivors that include Quality of Life, Wig Bank, Look and Feel Better and the Hope Lodge.
Alan Snetman, the Alan in Jon Alan Salon, expressed his pride in the 50-plus staff members who had put their heart and soul into planning. “As a father of three daughters and a husband to a beautiful wife, how could I not support such a great cause like the American Cancer Society?” Alan shared. Since the salon is an Aveda Salon, the company has a national campaign geared toward breast cancer awareness and a portion of all purchases during the evening went to this great cause.
Outside the salon, luminaries lined the sidewalk lighting the night with white and pink bags to honor those who have had breast cancer. Special to me was one that was lit to honor my sister-in-law who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year.
