Ravenwood’s 2011 rebuilding football season and head coach Joe Rietveld’s inaugural season leading the Raptors are over. With a 2-8 record, there will be no postseason for the Raptors, who lost 31-7 to District 11-AAA champion Independence in Friday's season finale.

The Raptors (2-8, 1-4) held the host Eagles (8-2, 5-0) to just a field goal in the first quarter by Kentucky recruit Landon Foster.

But Chase Erickson broke loose for a 37-yard run in the second quarter, and Chase Swayze scored TD runs of 2 and 12 yards before and after halftime for a 24-0 lead.

Taylor Darden added another 3-yard run in the third before Ravenwood's Omar Joseph scored 4 yards out in the final quarter.

Joseph finished with 54 yards on 10 carries, and Syrus Jenkins gained 43 yards on 6 rushes. Harrison Johnson was 10 of 16 passing for 55 yards, and gained 33 yards on the ground on 8 runs.

Tevin Hills was the Raptors' top receiver with 44 yards on 7 catches.

Independence rolled up 278 yards on the ground, with Erickson's 78 yards on 8 carries leading the way. Zak Steeler had 45 yards, Prado 38, Swayze and Oscar Prado 34 each, and Wade 32.

The Eagles threw for 123 yards on 9 of 19, with Swayze 5 for 5 for 90 yards, Thompson 2 of 11 for 22 yards, and Prado 2 of 3 for 11 yards. Brandon Swayze hauled in 5 receptions for 91 yards.

Indy will now wait to find out its opponent today for next week's opening game of the 6A playoffs.
