Ravenwood High School crowned a very special King during halftime on homecoming Friday night, with Austin Wallace being honored along with Homecoming Queen Helen Wu.

It was the first time RHS has ever had two special needs students on the court. Chandler Matlock was also among the freshman representatives up for the homecoming court.

“King Austin Wallace is loved by all the student body and represents who and what RHS is all about,” said Cyndy Howes, mathematics teacher and homecoming organizer.

News Channel 5, where her husband Ron Howes is meterologist (he served as emcee of the halftime festivities), had an up-close and personal interview with the King of Homecoming.

2011 Homecoming Queen and King are: Helen Wu and Austin Wallace. Helen is the daughter of Lihua Wei and Kanning Wu of Brentwood.  Austin is the son of Roy and Paula Wallace of Nolensville.

Freshman Court Attendants: Rylie Armstrong and Steven Nash. Rylie is the daughter of Amy and Craig Armstrong, and Steven is the son of Jay and Cheryl Nash.  Both are from Brentwood.

Sophomore Court Attendants: Melissa Danly and Ross Birdsong. Melissa is the daughter of Craig and Nancy Danly and Ross is the son of Carol and David Birdsong. Both hail from Brentwood. 

Junior Court Attendants: Taylor Younginer and Mike Giangreco. Taylor is the daughter of Jeff and Beth Younginer.  Michael is the son of Alan and Susan Giangreco.  Both are from Nolensville.

Senior Court Attendants: McKenzie Barnette and Derek Cressman. McKenzie is the daughter of Judy and Rick Barnette of Franklin.  Derek is the son of Drew and Sally Cressman of Brentwood.
