Residents in BHS, RHS, CHS zones may sign up for Christmas tree recycling pickup

Brentwood Home Page news reports
The Ravenwood Athletic Club and the Ravenwood Marching Band have teamed up for a Christmas fundraiser that benefits both groups.

The Ravenwood Athletic Club (RAC) sold beautiful North Carolina Douglas fir Christmas trees this year. The trees were delivered to the homeowners that bought them on Saturday, Dec. 3. The feedback has been amazing about the quality and beauty of the trees that the sports teams sold, the school said.

The Raptors football team worked hard to unload and get the trees ready, and the girls softball team then were Santa's helpers in taking the trees to people's homes.  The trees ranged from 5 feet to 12 feet.

The RHS Band comes to the rescue of the homeowners after the Christmas season by offering to pick up those old Christmas trees.  For a donation, they will come by your home and take the old tree to the recycling area to be turned into mulch for the city of Brentwood.

The band will be picking up on Friday, Dec. 30; Saturday, Dec. 31; Saturday, Jan 7; and Saturday, Jan 14.  To get on the list for this service go to www.ravenwoodband.com and there will be a link on the home page for you to sign up. You just put a donation in an envelope attached to the tree when they come around to haul it away. Or if you have questions email rhstree@hotmail.com.

Last year the Ravenwood Marching Band hauled more than 500 trees to the recycling center, and this year the band hopes to reach the 750-tree mark.  The program is for any area that is served by Ravenwood, Brentwood or Centennial school zones.
