Brentwood resident Boyd makes her mark with district leaders
Brentwood Home Page news reports Senior guard Emily Boyd, a Brentwood resident, is one of three Christ Presbyterian Academy girls basketball players who reached the 1,000-point scoring mark within a two-week period.
Boyd scored the 1,000th point of her high school career against East Literature last Tuesday, Jan. 24. Junior guard Meredith Roman notched her 1,000th point Jan. 10 vs. Maplewood, and junior post player Faith LeGate reached 1,000 the night before Boyd on Jan. 23 vs. Martin Luther King.
“The fact that three of our players have reached the 1,000-point milestone within a two-week period this season exemplifies just how important total team effort is for CPA basketball,” Lions Coach Becky LeGate said.
The Lions were 21-3, 11-0 in District 10-AA going into Tuesday night's game at Stratford.
“To be successful on the court, we know it takes not only scoring but teammates who are selfless and willing to distribute the basketball to each other, as well as setting screens, rebounding, and playing great team defense to create opportunities for players like Emily, Faith and Meredith to score," LeGate said.
"As we recognize each of them for the individual dedication and hard work that it took to reach this achievement, we also celebrate the accomplishments as a reflection of our entire group of players giving their all for the good of the team. We are extremely blessed to have such a gifted and unselfish team.”
