Inflatable playground also helps with fundraising for Autism Speaks

Brentwood Home Page news reports
Brentwood's Pump It Up, part of the first national children’s birthday party franchise to partner with Autism Speaks, will join more than 150 inflatable playgrounds across the country to launch a new Sensory Jump Time program.

The program, to debut at 3-5 p.m. on April 7 at both the Brentwood and Mt. Juliet locations, will feature games and activities that cater to the specific needs of children with autism. The debut event is free to children with autism and their families.

Trained staff will lead games that have been deemed appropriate for children with autism, and the facility lights, music, and procedures will be altered to provide the most safe and fun sensory environment for guests on the spectrum.

“The Sensory Jump Time provides children with autism the perfect environment to work on their social skills and gross motor skills in a non-threatening environment,” said Sandra Wiseman, owner of Pump It Up of Brentwood and Mt. Juliet.  “We’re proud to work with Autism Speaks to offer a program that can aid in therapies for children with autism.”

In conjunction with the launch of the sensory program, Pump It Up of Brentwood and Mt. Juliet is taking part in a nationwide fundraising effort to benefit Autism Speaks – The 3rd Annual Great Open Jump.

For a recommended donation to Autism Speaks, all area families can enjoy open play time at 6-9 p.m. on April 7.  Pump It Up of Brentwood and Mt. Juliet will also be accepting donations throughout March and April.

“With its sensory-friendly facilities filled with large, soft inflatable play structures, Pump It Up provides an ideal environment for children on the spectrum,” said Scott Leibowitz, Austism Speaks national director of corporate relations.

“By taking the initiative to create additional programs for children with autism, and to raise funds for Autism Speaks, Pump It Up is setting an example for other companies to follow.  We look forward to collaborating on initiatives that will further our mission.”
