Story and photos by JODI RALL For Brentwood Home Page On a beautiful Friday morning close to 200 athletes representing Special Olympics Williamson County local spring games was held at Brentwood High School football field.
Officers from the Brentwood Police Department and athletes escorted the flame around the track and Independent High School athlete Sara Krikac had the honor of lighting the Eternal Flame of Hope. Others who helped escort the flame were Andrew Walsh from Centennial High School, Jon Hasty from Brightstone, Anna Winter from Poplar Grove Elementary and Kevin Bradshaw from Ravenwood High School.
Orson Bell acted as emcee during the Opening Ceremony and welcomed BHS Principal Kevin Keidel to say a few words to the athletes and volunteers who made this day possible.
“Fans of Opportunity” was the title of the sign from Fairview Middle School and earned them this year’s winner of the banner contest. In the stands were students from Oakhill’s second grade class and many others who came out today to cheer on the athletes.
