Crockett: This is the last week of the school year so parents and students should take inventory of their textbooks and library books. All textbooks should be in the classroom and all library books should be returned by now. The lost and found should be checked out one last time before items are donated to a local charity. All students should have a settled account with cafeteria manager Dee Dee Smith at this point.

Edmondson: The second-graders recently enjoyed two final field trips for the year. They traveled to Radnor Lake to learn about animals native to Tennessee. They also visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum along with Bicentennial Mall. They learned about famous country music musicians, the importance of the music industry in our state, and some interesting facts about our state’s history.

Kenrose: The Kenrose Talent Show will be Wednesday, May 19. K-2 students will perform 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and 3-5 students will perform 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Please come and support our Kenrose talent.

Lipscomb: Field Day was a great success. Thank you to all the parent volunteers that made it possible.

Scales:  The Fifth Grade Recognition Reception will be at 7 p.m. today. Each fifth-grade student will be recognized and certificates of awards and accomplishments will be announced. Paula Thomson’s fourth-grade class has been reading biographies. They have also been interviewing one another and writing biographies about their classmates.

Sunset: Third-grade students traveled back in time as they experienced first-hand what a classroom felt like in the 1800s. Dressed in period clothes, they arrived at Boiling Springs Academy where they participated in an interactive curriculum using slates and slate pencils. They were tutored in math, spelling, handwriting, and history from a local "school marm" who taught in the fashion students would have experienced more than a 100 years ago.

Sunset Middle: The rescheduled WCS Battle of the Books will be held this evening. Congratulations to our JV Rubgy Team for winning the state championship 26–0! The PTO is looking for volunteers to help with parking on the day of the 8th Grade Celebration, Friday, May 21, in the morning. Please e-mail sallieugreene@comcast.net, if you are available.

Woodland Middle: The tennis teams won first place in both the boys and girls divisions of the WMAA Tennis Tournament Championship. Highlights from the girls matches include: Maddie King’s and Taylor Briggs’s 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles, and Marissa Behlmaier’s and Grace Thacker’s 9-7 win in No. 2 doubles. Iris Hao won her No. 1 singles match 8-1. Hannah Shoener took second place in the No. 2 singles, with Kelly Rains winning at the No. 3 singles. The doubles teams sealed the win. Justin Karl and Christian Hahnemann won 8-4 at No. 1 boys doubles, Nick Durr and A.J. Wei won 9-7 to take the No. 2 doubles. Austin Chitwood and John Schumacher took second place at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, after losing hard-fought battles to some very tough Grassland opponents.
