Crockett: Fifth graders will enjoy an outing to the Huntsville Space Center today. Their departure from school and arrival back at school will not coincide with normal school hours. All students should have returned the appropriate permission slips in order to participate in this adventure. Perhaps this outing will inspire a future astronaut. Fourth graders enjoyed a visit from Cory Mason during their Mysteries of History unit. It is always a treat to get a visit from the talented Mr. Mason and Crockett appreciates him and InFocus so much.
Edmondson: During this last week of school, the third grade students will be reflecting on the year and what it meant to them. The third grade team is so thankful for all the parental support throughout the year, and we hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

They learned about beef cattle on a hay ride, architecture as it relates to log cabins and antebellum homes, actually dug up artifacts at the archaeology center, used a compass and map on a scavenger hunt, explored a barn maze, saw homing pigeons, chickens, a goat, and ended the day with a picnic. Chorus and dance will have a Spring performance on May 18th at 9 am for parents and 10 am for students. The show is titled, Summer, as we all are looking forward to it.
Scales: Musician, Rodney Atkins, visited Tina Tidwell’s second grade class as the “Mystery Poet”. He delighted students by composing songs with poetry they had written. In P.E. classes this week, they will be learning to play flag football. Sarah Ashby’s second grade class are making plans for their summer reading. They have also finished their fast facts in addition and subtraction from one to twenty.
Sunset: Students in Mrs. Schuh’s 5th grade class have begun a new novel study. They are discovering a diverse world as they interpret, “A Single Shard” by Linda Sue Park. They are learning about the Korean culture in this story of a young, homeless boy who dreams of becoming a potter. In this novel, rich with wise sayings, students will explore the meanings of various adages. Upon its completion, they will create a sculpture carved from soap.
Sunset Middle: Sunset Middle would like to thank all of our PTO and other volunteers who have helped us throughout the school year by honoring you with an Appreciation Breakfast this morning at 8:00 a.m. If you have helped out in any way, please come join us. SSMS sends out a special thank you to all who have helped out our own flood victims through donations, clean-ups and moral support. What a great community!
Woodland Middle: Woodland Middle is very proud of the students who participated Youth Legislature. Students wrote legislation to assure the safety of our dams, provide healthy snacks for teens, protect student athletes and redress the wrongs of medical malpractice.
