Lady Raptors win first region cross country title

Brentwood Home Page sports reports
Despite the cool temperatures, wet drizzle and muddy course, the Ravenwood High School girls cross country team persevered to bring home its first region championship. The Regional Meet took place at the Steeplechase Course in Nashville’s Percy Warner Park.
The team next competes in Saturday’s Division I state meet on Saturday, also at the Steeplechase course.
“We took second, fourth, seventh, eighth, 12th, 13th and 18th to beat second-place Brentwood,” Coach Pete Mueller said. “It was the first region championship in the history of RHS cross country. Erika (Peoples), Sarah (Jenner), Rachel (Spinden), and Allie (Arnette) all placed in the Top 10 to earn All-Region and Mary Kate (Collins), Eleanor (Leffler), and Rue (Reynolds) also ran great races.
“As you can imagine, I can’t wait for the state meet next Saturday.”
“Although the boys ultimately fell five points short of their goal, I believe they ran better as a team than at any other meet since I’ve been at Ravenwood,” Mueller said of the Raptors’ boys teams.
Complete results for both races are at http://tn.milesplit.us/meets/60345/results/107268.
The girls Class-AAA state meet begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the boys following at 1:45 p.m. Admission will be charged.
